ok i have an 88 pkup with a v6, likely an r150 trans, defiantly a chain drive........

ok I know I need to get a gear transfer case that also includes a second reduction case........

i see mention that i need 2 reduction units but this does not make since unless the stock reduction case is chain sprocket reduction which sounds stupid! This is very unclear and needs some illustration somewhere. Its obvious that the transfer box is a chain sprocket..................

my assumption is that the r150 has a reduction case with stock 23 spline 2.28 gears im assuming and a transfer case with a chain, is this correct?

if the above line is correct............do i just use the stock 2.28 reduction case as my forward case and then go >v6 adapter>second case with 23 spline 4.7 gear>gear drive transfer case

so what do i need to buy and in what order?

you pull your transfer case, and discard. then you need 3.0 v6 adapter, then a 2.28 23 spline input, then find two gear driven rf1a transfer cases, then purchase a doubler adapter and 23 spline 4.7 for rear case, make sure adapter for doublers is a 23 spline, follow direction for 4.7 install and doubler install, you will need dual case crossmember and more than likely need to rotate rear pinion, then measure and order drivelines

I pity the work and money pit ahead of you. I just went through this myself. With the exception of not having a 3.0. Best of luck to you. ovrarok hit the process on the head.

crap duh i just took a look at my trans the freaking reduction stage is integrated with the transfer stage, ok i get it now...........are rf1a's the only ones that work? im assuming that they can be found on w56's
