3rz ecm auto vs manual trans
« on: Sep 14, 2015, 01:01:12 PM »
Believe me guys I have searched. Didn't want to make a topic until I had thoroughly attempted to find the answer.
My 3rz swap is not getting anywhere near the fuel economy that I believe it should be. I see people on here claiming over 20mpg in 1st gen 3rz swaps wirh 5.29 gear and 35 tires.
I'm running 4.56 and 33 tires. I consistently am getting 14.5-15 mpg.

Now to the questions:
I have an automatic transmission ecm in a truck with a standard shift trans, is the fuel mapping different on an auto truck vs standard truck?
I have the following codes:

Will the shift fail codes cause it to change the fueling tables or something that could cause the issue I'm having?
83 long bed 2wd sas, 3rz, w56, duals with 4.7 rear, 4.88 elock front, spartan rear, 39.5 iroks
01 double cab hunting truck
06 tacoma street truck

Rear o2 sensor shouldn't have any bearing on the fuel. Just simply tells you that the catalytic converter is faulty. On the maf, why would you change it if it isn't making any codes? Just asking I don't fully understand that part.

Thank you for sharing that. I suppose I need to find a way to shove a cat under there. I've read ways to build a little fooler for the rear 02 sensor plug to tell ecm that it is functional and doing it's job. Any input on that?

Thanks liveoak, that's the fooler I was referring to. I see mixed reviews on it but for less than $5 I'll take a whack at it. Who knows. Might get more than 15mpg with it...
