85 EFI to 4.3 TBI wiring questions

I think I'm set on installing the chevy wiring but I would like to remove as much old comp. wiring as possible.  Can I just remove the wires that run to the computer and keep the ones that split and run to the dash? I just started to unwrap the main wires from the comp to the engine and I think all I would need would be the temp. oil pressure and starter wire into the engine bay?  One other question would be does the computer control any power to where the old coil and igniter were?
