Stinger

So, I've been wanting to ask this for a long time: what is a "Stinger" for? And do i need one for rock crawling. thanks, tom p :turtle3:

You probably don't need a stinger but it's a little hoop off your front bumper that keeps your hood from wadding up when you roll over.  I have found the hood can get pretty tight to the battery leads when you roll, so I think they are a good idea.

Its a good slider for your entire front.grill, hood and more importantly, the radiator.seems like everytime i get light in the front and slide left or right, my stinger always hits when i back down off a ledge to realign.depends on how you wheel i guess.its cheap insurance

The "stinger" was originated in Iceland for driving over glaciers. If by chance you came onto a big crack in the ice and your front wheels went into it, it stuck out far enough to hit on the other side of the crack so you would not drop in. People in the US made them a bit different to help save the radiator and other components under the hood.
