Dusy Ershim and Trailer Rigs

What's the deal with Dusy Ershim and trailer rigs? Are green sticker rigs allowed in those areas? Is there enough parking for a few tow rigs and trailers? Any idea how much propane I'll need for my little 22R? My buddies and I would like to run the trail sometime in August.

Green sticker are allowed. Parking is much better at Courtright than it is at Kaiser Pass.

No, that's all paved/main roads. I saw a group of a few Jeeps and one side by side come out to Kaiser Pass one year, one of the Jeep owners drove the side by side guy back to Courtright to get his tow rig. The other guys stayed with the side by side so no one would mess with it. It was their first time through and they were pretty excited about the trail, the back and forth didn't phase them.

True. I know some that have tried to get in there, and couldn't make the first turn at the bottom with their trailers.

not going into Deer...just that big, fairly flat area to the left once you make the turn to Deer.  last time I was there it seemed to have plenty of room to turn a rig/trailer around...were a couple trailer rigs there that day.  not any more?  After White Bark Rd got "paved" a couple years back you can drive a motor home up there :p

I knew what you meant. The longer/lower trailers won't make the first turn after leaving the pavement.

There were two tow rigs up there a couple weeks ago, one at the top next to the trailhead and another just past the Huntington Lk overlook.  Both were 4x4 full size with standard tandum axle trailers.

It depends on how much fuel you will have with you and how far you want to drive before and after the trail. If you park your trailer and truck at courtright reservoir you will be at the trail head, but you will have to drive all the way back from the end of the trail to courtright and will take you about 1.5-2 hours of highway driving. If you park your rigs at the base camp off of tamarack road you will be about 45 min from courtright and pretty much in the middle of the trailhead and the end of the trail, this is what I did last time. There are many options available, it just depends on how much fuel you will have on hand and how good of mileage you rig gets. Hope that helps. If you have more questions don't hesitate to ask.

What is the name of the Basecamp or exact location of where you can park your tow rig and trailer and run only the second half of the trail? And does it have signs to which direction is the middle of the trail? We would like to go next month and I can't find any info on doing just the second half of the trail and trailering our rigs in. Any help appreciated

So you want to run from Kaiser into the trail? If so I would park my truck and trailer at tamarack and drive to the trail head. I would say that Ershim lake is probably pretty central on the trail.

I'm assuming he means Tamarack Ridge parking lot.  hwy 168 out of Shaver Lk to the top of the ridge.  turn off is on the right.

Is the parking lot called Tamarack Sno-Park, where you can park your trailers? Is it free to park? and is it safe to leave a couple days. Thanks

Yes it is called Tamarak Sno-Park

Yes you can park trailers there. Unfortunately the last time I was up there the parking lot was pretty full with paving construction equipment. If you get there and this is the case then you can just drive through the gates at the end of the parking lot and find an open spot off of Rock Creek Rd.
As for safety. Its pretty safe however I'm always nervous leaving my tow rig anywhere like this. I have never been broke into but I have heard stories.

The safest option is probably the Shaver Lake Marina. You can pay to park your rig there and they lock the gates at night and have cameras.
