Hey Guys,

I've had a couple responses to my ad. Let's just say that my price hasn't been well received.  :smack:  :chillpill:

I've taken to my records and compiled a list of all the parts and labor i've paid to get this rig to where it is. Since i've only taken it out 6 times, I took that total and cut off 35%

Seems like a rational enough way to go about valuing something, right?

Still, i'm perturbed by how far away the offers have been from my asking price. These offers have been from people who know their what they talking about.

I figure maybe I have myself a valuable lesson to learn here and y'all have helped. Maybe the lesson is the money going in doesn't matter, as there are enough of these things for sale out there that keep the price down.

Here are all the cards on the table. This is what I've spent. For everything on this list, I have an invoice, receipt, or the item is visible and identifiable.

Here's my list:

Truck    $3,500.00
Tires    $1,100.00
Crossmember Armor Kit    $275.00
Rock Slider Kit    $197.00
Bilstien Front Shocks 5150    $200.00
Bilstien Rear Shocks    $175.00
Chromoly 30 Spline front axle & Bierfield set    $612.00
TG High Steer kit 4 stud    $446.00
TG Classic Rear Lift kit    $825.00
TG Classic Front Lift kit    $1,211.65
TG Trail Creeper 2.28x4.70 dual transfer case 21 spline    $1,521.45
Customer front Bumper    $200.00
Internal roll cage    $200.00
Nylon Driveline Kit Creeper U joint    $318.62
Front End Rebuild (Labor only)    $1,466.00
Battery    $100.00
Radiator    $100.00
Spark plugs, wires, distributor cap    $150.00
Smitty Built Winch & plate    $400.00
Calipers, rotors Brake pads    $200.00
bucket seats (2)    $400.00
5 point harnesses (2)    $200.00

Total = 13,797.00

I'm asking 10,000 and would probably settle around 9.

I'm the first person to leap at a good deal. I understand that this truck may not be the smokin' deal that many of you wait and watch for. That being the case, I don't feel that someone who wants to get a new rig--and spare themselves the trouble of building one--would be in too bad of shape buying this one at the price I'm asking. Hell, I wish I would've had the chance. It would have saved me a ton of time and headache. Time I might have been able to use on the trails.

I've been told i'm only going to get around 6K. This just isn't that type of fire-sale situation for me. For that much, i'd rather have a garage ornament. :screwy:

Thank everybody for reading and contributing to the convo.

I spend lots of my evenings looking at parts and rigs, what ive come to realize is you get about 50 cents on your dollar when selling and all your labor was free.its gay and stupid but true.i will roll my truck down a hill on fire before i settle for that.goodluck man

I'm confused as to why your Craigslist ad says it's an 83 but here you say 81  :headscratch:. You also state that it's a second Gen but most would call this a first gen. Unfortunately although your numbers add up and it would seem fair to take a $4000 loss it just doesn't work that way. You should look at what else is for sale in your price range and compare what they put into them. A shiny new paint job might get some interested in paying a little more while it won't make a difference to others.

When I was looking to buy a crawler there was a first gen, long bed (bobbed) almost everything was new on it, similar build to yours but it had a fresh 22re swap(smog legal) and a shiny new paint job. The thing looked really nice, wish I could have bought it, he was asking $7k or $7500.

Another thing, in the pic you have of the rear suspension all the wires and stuff dangling around doesn't look good for something in your price range.

You're also missing gears and lockers, rigs priced at 7500 would have gears/full lockers f/r.  That's a minimum of $1600 (parts only).  Sorry bro, these are a money pits, even when built on the cheap.
