Yes indeed they wear out fast and they aren't really round, more like egg shaped. Good tires to have a set of but not for the daily grind...
BFG KM2s or Goodyear MTRs would be a good choice for driving and wheeling. I had the MTRs and they were good all around. Ran them 32K miles with a welded rear end even.
Also you need to know if you run 20s on a Toyota 4x4 guys are going to think you are a fruitcake. I'm not judging you personally here but it's a fact, they will make fun of you and maybe even ask for your phone number at stoplights, call you pretty etc. I'd go with 17s these days if I was starting from scratch. More tires available and enough sidewall to work good.
