:beer nice to be here ! I'm looking for a rig and parts . I have an 88 Toyota that doesn't run ! Can any one tell me what tranny and t case is in it ? It has a 22re in it . It's missing a lot of parts. What r good cases to use for a dual set up? What kind of clutch should I us? What is a good axle should I use to do an axle swap? I have a 90s bed 3gen I think for sale

I think that should have a w56 transmission.  Not sure what modle of w56 though.  There is a good identification chart on marlins store link.

Hello Poorboyz and :welcome: to :turtle: land

If the transmission is original to the truck, then you have a W56-B. You could try replying with pictures and/or the serial number off the side of the transmission and we can give you the exact year and month it was manufactured.

Here to learn how to Crawl eh? Looks like you've come to the right place!! Here is my 1981:

Welcome to the forum, and the world of never ending building/rebuilding.  With you being new to the off-road hobby I would start by rebuilding your '88 to it's stock condition(drivetrain wise), it will be easier on your budget, and help you learn about your rig.  From there add some 31's or 32's, rock sliders, solid front and rear bumpers with recovery points, and wheel it while you learn the basics.  If your budget allows for it, dual cases would be my only mod until you have wheeled for a while(1-3yrs depending on how many times a year you get to wheel).  All the skills you need to learn to be successful off pavement should be learned on a near stock rig with open diffs, it will prevent you from ending up in situations over your head when something breaks, or you get moved off the line you were on.
'90 black X-cab mod'd 3.0, 33's/4.88's, rear ARB, custom bumpers, sliders, safari rack, etc.
'91 Blue X-cab 22re, 35's/5.29's,Truetrac front, ARB rear, dual cases, and custom Safari flatbed, bumper, interior.
