 Looking good! Are those ARP studs as well?

Bananaclip

Thank you guys. Yes sir. I did ARP on the tops. I will post when there is more progress. The squeaky wipers is a damn bummer. I have brand new felts etc in the box still. We shall see.

My truck came with super winch locking hubs that wasn't going back on. I had a few pair of ifs hubs in the building. So I ordered the 30 spline chromoly RCV inner gear.

Ran into 2 snags. First I ordered the wrong dang RCV hub gears. I discovered this after 3 take apart and reassemble sessions. Funny thing is the gear I have works but won't allow the outer birf snap ring to go on. I am talking just barley. On a positive the correct gears are in the way. Second snag..... I ordered some fresh reman V6 Calipers. The passenger went on as it should. The driver on the other hand. The 2 halves of the caliper are way off line. I'd say 1/8 inch difference in the mounting faces. When mounted the outer half of the caliper rest against the vented rotor. What luck I'm having. So when the replacement parts show up I can finish the front. More to come.

Ok I have some things to report. The truck is officially on 4 wheels!  I am waiting on a few bits to show up and the front end should be buttoned up. I discovered a small rip in one of the FJ80 TRE's so I ordered a new boot kit. When that shows up the drag link will go on. The SKY pitman arm is pretty beefy. I needed the shorter eye to eye length that it offered.

I ended up pulling the dash so I can do a deep clean of the duct work and install a new heater core.

I also ordered a rear upper LROR shock hanger for the rear. Once it shows I can weld the upper and lower rear shock mounts, measure and order new shocks.

Random thread jack alert!
I'm not sure what your plans are but i have 6 bilsteins available
4x12"
2x10"
4 were used less than 500 miles
2 are new never used

I went a different direction and have had these sitting around since.

PM me if you're interested.

Sounds like a plan. I will let you know what length I end up needing. I'm thinking the pair of 10" would be the key. Thank you CB.

The heater core and TRE boot showed up last evening. Hope to have the steering set and the dash back in over the weekend.

I need to start thinking about some new rubber and aluminum soon.

So the Steering and heater core are installed. Everything went fairly smooth. While I had the dash taken apart I did some deep cleaning.

Cleaned the inside and outside of all the duct work and the inside firewall.

Low range rear hanger showed up last evening. Time to start on the rear.

I forgot to mention.  The SKY pitman arm was exactly what the truck needed. The slightly shorter arm and reduced angle gave me some pretty straight steering angles

Looks perfect man, great work. I'm going to have to look into that skys arm when I mount this box up on mine.

Thanks CB. The stock ifs arm had me off and it was driving me nuts. The sky is beefcake and I do recommend. They offer a flat and a reduced drop.

So...... today I sit here waiting on parts so I started to delete the western towing mirror.  I don't really care for the size of them and mine don't fold in. So this decision wasn't very difficult.

Alright..... I ended up receiving a nice deal on some new 10" travel bil's for the rear from a fellow member C. Beers. They worked out fantastic with the lower all pro mounts. I also welded on the diff cover and added a LROR LSPV relocation bracket. She's all painted up and back on the ground. Thanks again CB! ...... new shock boot should be to me tomorrow.

Mechanically she is ready. Now I need prep this girl for paint.

I just pulled the trigger on some new aluminum wheels and 35's.......

I'm glad it all worked out and another MC member could use them!
Sorry again about the boot, I am positive I chucked them knowing I wasn't going to run them.

You are making some nice progress  :beerchug:

No worries about the boot CB. I just appreciate the deal. They worked out perfect. There is a few more phases I want to do to the little truck. For now I need to get it ready for winter.

Wheels and tires showed up today. I did quite a bit of research and I'm very happy with the 3.75 offset I went with on the wheels. No rub during test drive around the block. I will need to sort bump stops before I check the stuffage.

BD I couldn't agree more. I'm a tall guy so the extended cab was a must.

So I have been sanding and sanding more. I had a builders bumper plate from all pro so I ordered a winch plate from Barnes 4x4. I have been dropping all kinds of $ and with new paint coming up I'm trying to save here and there.  I figured this would be a great start to a bumper and I can add tube when I pull the trigger on a bender.

It's just tacked. I am going to add gussets on the bottom outer edges and possibly another in the center.

I am going to cut the lower gusset overhang and weld a d-ring mount to the lower section and this mini bumper is done.

I got the truck prepped up and primed.

Now to decide on paint. I'm looking heavily at the raptor liner option. Thoughts?

Lookin good.. the bobbed bed came out nice.. I have an 84 single cab that is line-x'd inside and out. It definitely added a few pounds.. the hood feels like a chevy hood. Back then, probably 12 years ago the only available color was black.. still looks good... what color are you thinking?

Thank you good sir. Yeah the bed turned out pretty decent. The trucks original color is charcoal and I'm digging the Custom Color battleship grey. I figured it would add some weight. That's great to hear yours is still holding up good. Lots of folks recommended the stuff.

Just another opinion on LINE-X or other spray-on black crap...

My Tundra bed had some kind of spray-on crap.  It was black and looked like LINE-X type spray on.

I HATED IT!!  First, it was slippery.  In a truck bed where I want things to stay put, I had to tie down everything.

2 - It stunk really bad.. like BUTT!!   If I decided to sleep in it (it had snugtop on it), there's no way I'd be inside that bed for very long.

And thirdly... I have had 4 pickups, and never felt like I needed to put some spray crap in the bed to "protect" it... it's a truck!

That's just my experience. :dunno:

Gnarly thanks man. Yes it is a pile of work but you know how it is. I have been back and forth on the raptor liner. This truck is super clean overall and I would hate to create a critical error at this point in the build. I checked with a few local buddies with paint shops. They are so backed up it's ridiculous. I know one of the fellas would say bring it up after hours and we can spray it. I just hate to be that fella. This is when the bedliner option came into picture. If the raptor is applied correctly I believe the end result will be really nice. Hell there is fellas spraying this stuff on brand new Taco's.  Oh I wanted to add. The trucks bed had OG rhino liner in it when I bought the truck. That stuff is legit. I hated to cut it for the bob. Super grippy without being sandpaper like. Mind you this is the legit professional stuff. We shall see. 2 gallons of battleship grey raptor is in my possession [emoji41]

Update. I was able to gather all materials and get a few days of good weather.

I was timid about the raptor liner but this turned out pretty damn clean. Thoughts?
