Rear exhaust pictures.....
« on: Jan 16, 2015, 11:49:46 PM »
My 86 has the staggered shocks (rear or axle on one side, front other)

The rear section of the exhaust needs to be changed, and I eventually want to change the shocks to a /\ arrangement.

I'd like to see some pictures of a /\ rear exhaust setup so I don't miss something while making the rear section of the exhaust before I change the shock arrangement.

thanks

Just run the exhaust tight along the frame where the shock would be normally.  Instead of swinging up and around the shock towards the diff in normal configuration.  Most the rigs I've seen run a staggered inlet/outlet muffler, and the outlet is more towards the diff, just flip it over and the outlet will swing towards the frame, giving you clearance to run the /\ style shock mounts.

I put the turbo muffler (center in, out on top) in vertically to closely match the OEM round mufflers in/out locations....

Anyway, I forgot to mention that I also want to put a 1/4 wave exhaust on the rear section to get rid of the ~3500 rpm drone when going up the Grapevine

I figure the /\ shock locations would attached behind the round tube that's above / in front of the axle, and in front of the axle near the springs.     I was going to design with worst case on the axle,  front/top of axle next to springs at spring height.

I'm worried about missing something when a side is at full compression.........
