Aloha everyone
New braddah from Hawaii, names Marc and I'm a total noob to building rock crawler rigs, but have always been interested in them.
I have an automotive background, so I know a little about how stuff work, and also do a little fabrication here and there.
Just purchased my first rig which is a 1st gen 89' runner that I had a friend buy in Cali. Still waiting to get it shipped out, but in the mean time, been browsing all sorts of forums and trying to cram in as much info as I can to help me build a trail worthy rig.
I'm not into the Hawaii style truck with wide, stretched tires, and super high lifts. I actually dig the mainland style. Hah! Hope to learn a lot from everyone on this forum board.
Mahalos.

Here's some of my past/present projects and some of my work:

Thanks guys.

Will do! I'll probably start a build thread when I get all the parts.
Still researching what mods I can do to make my rig a trail worthy truck.
In the mean time here's some pics of the truck. My buddy just got the truck transfered to his name. Now to contact the shipping company and get more info on the whole shipping deal.

Thanks

Anyone got any pointers on what stuff I should read up about? Any specific mods I should consider, specific parts that have been proven on the trails, basically any tips and tricks for building a trail rig.
So far the plan is to do a SAS with 36"-39.5" tires. Was about to order the trailgear kit but ended up rethinking that and now I'm planning on getting the allpro.
Any help would be great. I don't expect to be spoonfed, I'm more than willing to use the search function. I just need to know what I'm looking for.   :gap:
