Its a 87 22re Block, with a factory crank, and rods(with ARP studs and bronze bushings) and main studs. The Pistons are a StopTech hypereutectic with about 8.5:1 CR. So I really am limited to 5lbs of boost. RV head with oversided valves with toyota OEM gasket. LCE efi performer cam with head studs. And LCE header. The one change I wish I had made was a double row chain. But oh well. I had looked at the Megasquirt before and the SDS. The nice thing about the SDS is I can go to a coil pack and really fine tune things. But I am hoping The factory setup will work...

ITS ABOUT TIME!!!! I went from 195 CC injectors to 255 CC injectors. Runs like a top. The only problem is a slight rich idle at 13AFR. I think I can live with that. Driving anf getting down on it I never saw the AFR get above 14, which is awesome! If I wanted anything more, I would need to step up to a stand alone ECU. SDS or Megasquirt. But I will wait and see how the factory ECU does.

Under the hood turned out great also! I was even able to keep the factory fan shroud.

Oh yeah. I just got back from an hour drive around. You get down on it, it pulls hard till about 5k. Down low its really nice, makes it really a fun driver. I am really happy with it. Thinking I might do an oil cooler and PCV oil seperator on it. But for now its just drive and have fun! No overheating or any other issues.

All that said, I do think swapping to an aftermarket ECU would really wake things up more. The factory ECU is doing the job, but you can tell sometimes it gets confused and just has a difficult time responding to different quick open closed open part thottle stuff. Anything beyond the oil cooler and sperator then next change would have to be the ECU. But for what I do the facotry ECU seems to be good enough.

So I got an oil cooler and remote oil filter what not and started installing. I love amazon prime. It took me awhile but think I found an awesome location for filter. All -8 AN and braided line.

This is what is left from my intake filter braket after my AFM/battery swap.

Not AC came in handy. This is an easy to access location and will allow me to fill the filter before install. Getting the filter off with the SC ontop of it is a pain in the ass. So the will get two thumbs up. Now I just need to figure out how I am going to run my lines.

If you see it, its for sale.

Megasuirt PNP 2, eliminates AFM and has 4 bar internal MAP sensor... plugs right into factory harness and is preflashed to start up and run! Tune from there,  just jump a few AFM and fuel pump wires and you're back in business. $800 though.... but well worth it for fine tuning a forced inducted application as yours.  What internals are you running in your engine?

I know what MAP is.  What does 4 bar mean internal mean?

1 bar equals roughly 14.5 psi. So 4 bar equals 58 psi, minus atmospheric pressure means the sensor will read up to 44 psi. Internal means its mounted inside the ecu so you just run a vacuum line to the ecu from the intake manifold.

Oh I know that means I thought it was something mechanical or electrical I've never heard of in the map sensor. thank you.

That's a lot of boost.  Can that motor handle that?  I thought that was strictly diesel.

I run 5lbs so a 2 bar would work for me. It just comes with a 4 bar. Im not sure you could build a 22re with more then 30 lbs. And even then you will have 15k plus in the motor. You would be better off swapping.  Yhe other problem with having such huge boost is turbo lag. For offroading. You would never get enough boost. Maybe if you were mud running or something or drag racing.

oh no, that would require lower compression and/or race gas, watermeth, MLS head gasket, ARP everything, rods, forged pistons, big cam, port work, dual fuel pumps, big injectors, hot ignition and a tune-able ecu. Then you could pump 40+ psi out of it. My buddy runs 43 psi on a mitsu 4g63 on pump gas with a lot of watermeth. Puts down a solid 650 hp to all 4's...

This thing could handle at least 10-15 psi if it had megasquirt or SDS setup. Right on the money around 5-7 with the stock ecu.

Very true, for drive-ability you want quick spool/boost response or else it would be a laggy dog to drive. High boost is for the strip.

Oil cooler is done and up and running. I really liked this project. I think it will really help! Also allows me to run a little more oil and makes filter changes 10000% easier. Best part no leaks on the first try!

One small thing left is to put the some clamps on the hoses to hold them in place as the run inder the cab/frame area. But that is a small thing.

I like the remote oil filter for obvious reasons. What was toyota thinking when they designed the R series engine? You can now change your oil filter without the EPA giving you trouble from the oil streaming off the side of your engine block.

Manufacturers dont care about maintenance. Only recently have I noticed any change. I remember working on a front wheel drive v6 buick and having to jack the motor half out to change the rear plugs. I had 2006 Acura had the oil filter in the same type position, did the same thing but worse. Oil went everywhere.

Another thing abouy the relocation kits is a lot of them come with rubber lines. Im not sure I would run one with rubber lines. I would always be worried. Then again I did throw up after buying the hose and fittings. They coat twice as much as the kit!

They were thinking it's really easy to get to........

Early R series engines weren't crossflow heads.     The exhaust and intake were on the same side (left).

Take a look at an 18R..........

I have to be honest, I had never seen before a supercharged 22re!! So awesome! I'm guessing there's no A/C tucked in there? But then again when you have a supercharger anc can haul ass, I guess the windows are more affective. Haha

Actually if we followed Toyota's standard letter assignment for engines it would be a 22R-ze. Supercharged engines  are denoted by a "Z" in the engine code.
