Ironclads Fullwidth 85
« on: Mar 20, 2005, 10:54:24 PM »
It was a long bed reg cab  but   that cab got trashed so i stuck a Xtra cab and a bobbed shortbed on
Its basicly  your normal fullwidth swap ( well.. sorta)
12bolt rear  welded 5.13s
10 bolt front  5.13s welded.
Hysteer  done with  custom arms made from 1 1/4" bar   1 1/2 .250 wall DOM  steering links  3/4" hiem joints.
3rd gen toy rears up front   with mixed toyota leafs
Dodge charger main leafs out back with a f150 leaf and the rest are toyota leafs  with  drop shackles and traction bar
37" MT/R's

Future mods are the obvious   coilovers  4link front and rear   60's  44's or 42's  blahblahblah

pics !

i got owned by my front drive shaft couple days ago.. and yes i picked all of that up

that  ledge is a good bit steeper  than the pics let on to be.. that was NOT FUN since  theres a ton of riverrock out there and the front driveshaft was stabbed into the ground.  and  took forever to dig out

I made to to the top of the ledge  but then my clutch started to slip so i stopped and when i backed down i hit the brakes and my front end unloaded and the driveshaft slipped out :(

this was about 40mph to 0  in an instant

did you have to outboard your springs any at all?   what about your brakes?  how did you get the lines to hook up?   Did you have to run a bigger master cylinder?  I have a pair of fullwidths that i plan on running on my next project...   I got a 44 frotn and a 14 bolt rear that im really havin fun thinkink about!
ah the beauty of a cuttin torch

i outboarded the front  springs to center the axle up   i think its a 34 1/2"  outside to outisde.   I upgraded to a corvette  M/C   ( 1 1/4" bore)  and made a simple adapter plate out of a piece of 3/8ths  plate. and  put  studs in for the chevy m/c and drilled holes for the toyota booster.  For the lines  i got some stainless steel braided lines from Bones on pirate and  they hook right up to the toyota lines.  but for the M/C  i got adapters to go from the  M/C to  3/16's  and  i reflared the hardline for them.  works  great

Well i blew the headgasket in it.. and  mid repair i  got bored  so i decided to do a little hackin..  im not sure if im gonna  finish repairing the engine.. i probably will and then sell it  because i want to swap in a 350.  but we'll see

i decided to inboard my rear springs and dovetail the bed.  along with doing away with my drop shackles,  im also moving my gas tank and  building another traction bar to run on the other side  due to my lovely axle wrap problems. And also remount my shocks  in a more straight up in down fashion close together  for  good high speed dampening while not hurting flex when im crawlin

pics !!

tis all for now.  i'll be back later with more when i get more done.

I would really like to see how you made the front inboard spring hanger. I plan on doing this soon also. What are the measurements?  :)

none.   ive thought it has broke about 100 times now but it has  laughed at it all.   Hell i broke my conversion flange from Paradise driveline ( Jesse  from high angle drivelines dad owns it )  for my 12 bolt  before ive broken anything  in my axles.

haha  your truck was actually  my inspiration .  I used to  have a narrowed front clip and a dovetail tube bedish thing   before the cab swap.

that was  after i stuck a bed back on..

looked like this for a while

Right now it has a LC Engineering  EFI Preformer Pro  22re in it.  its a killer engine  but i just want more power.  Who knows i might not drop in a 350  and might stick with the 4banger.. but we'll see
