Shock size?
« on: Jan 10, 2014, 06:16:42 PM »
I've got 53's in the rear and the rears up front and would like some advice on what size shocks to run on my 85 regular cab and I'm not afraid to cut holes in my bed

I don't think anybody but yourself can answer that. You have to flex it out and see what your extended and collapsed measurements should be. 12" and 14" travel are very common on these trucks with aftermarket shock mounts etc.

I went with 2.5 inch smooth body shocks with the resivour and sumo spring bump stops. Its like riding on a pillow on the trail.

figure out what angle you want to mount them at and then cycle your suspension to determine full stuff and full drop, measure this in comparison to how youd like to mount your shocks and then order the necessary sized shocks! :beerchug:

Thanks again for all the helpfull info, just wasn't sure of sizes. I can build but when it comes to such things I like to ask before I go out and buy and not know what I'm talking about

You will most likely run 14-12'' shocks in the front and 10-12'' shocks in the rear
