power window switches

i know most of you guys arent big fans of power accessories, but i have some power windows that i want to put in my 4runner. i have no idea how to wire the switches though, if someone could help me out that would be awsome. thanks

What are you starting with???  regulators, motors, switches all from the same setup??

i have everything, switches, regulators, motors. i cut the plugs out of the main wiring harness i took it out of, so i pretty much just need to know how to wire it.

the green and brown ones i am pretty sure i dont use because i believe they are for power mirrors and what not. if some one could help id appreciate it. thanks

if you don't have a scymatic, you'll need a circuit tester to see which wires correspond to which functions inside of the switches!! it's time consuming but, i did it to get some old 85' windows working!! but, i do agree, crank windows are more bulletproof. which is what i'll do if these go oos on me again!! :beerchug:

I had to rewire my windows in the 84'...holy crap if you dont have a schematic then forget it.  I had so many problems but I also had shorted wires and burnt switches.  Just get a good manual and it will show you everything, or esle you are in for a long night.

schematic, what the hell is that. i have the chilton manual and i cant figure out anything

It doesnt have the wiriling daigram in it.  It should have the break down of the wiring, which one is hot which ones are nutrual.  Also there are only 3 wires that come off the drivers side that go to the passanger side, 1 hot and 2 nutrual.  I think I had an electronic copy some whee I will try and find it.

ive got the harness for the door, that goes from the switches and motor into the cab. those pics of the wires above are from the plugs that i cut off the main harness. it would help if i knew what wires were power and ground and which ones went to the passenger side. and the manual has diagrams they just dont make any sense

Sorry I dont have the electronic copy any more...ya the diagraim can be alittle confusing but if you stare at it long enough you should be able to get it.

ive stared at it till it was a huge blur, and just cant seem to make any sense of it. can some one with power windows test some of their wires to see which ones are hot, hot in run and nuetral and what not  :bowdown:

im working on mine right now, i know the circuit starts at the drivers door and then to the passenger also i hope you have the toyota switches b/c they are different than american make ones, they make contact constantly and switch contact for window motor operation.  I think they have to have two power wires running in to the switch b/c i dont think the switch switches polarity it just sends fire through both wires running in to the motor.  Ill tear into mine prolly tommorrow and post what i figure out good luck
