BEST WAY TO TIE IN A CAGE INTO THE FRAME ??

I just purchased a used cage from a guy that is 1 3/4 DOM for $150, the cage is for my 86 runner and runs through the dash but only covers the front driver passenger section, I was thinking of tying it into the frame as it only has floor plates now.

After I get this portion installed I will extend the cage to the back.

Does anyone have pictures or comments on the best way to do this and how you sealed the floor boards around the cage.

I've never put in a cage before and I want it strong as hell but if the plates are plenty strong then i will probably stick with those.

On my Runner, I made plates floor plates that matched the interior floor plates on the cage. I bolted them to the interior floor plates which sandwiches the floor pan between the plates. Then I made some fish plates that were welded to the frame. Finished it off with welding the correct diameter and shape of DOM tube to tie them all together. I didn't seal the bolts that go through the pan. No need to run the cage tubing through the floor pan in my opinion. Hope this helps.

+1 on sandwich plates. You need to make sure your body mounts are in good shape first and it will transfer a lot more noise into the cab if that concerns you. Unless your floors are rotted out the plates to the floor are sufficient thou, connecting to the frame is not required but does make the cage more rigid.
My truck is  so noisy you would never notice it.

I like it, sound like a solid plan and would work perfect for what I'm trying to do, Thanks for the help guys, can't wait to start installing it. 

I don't care much about noise, it's a wheeler not a sports car.  Ha Ha.

I don't notice the noise in mine unless someone is riding with me and we try to talk. You can't really talk you have to shout.

sames...i only have my cage sandwiched with plates and it still vibrates like crazy on bumpy roads,cant hear anything when it comes to talking to a passenger. lol but it'll save your buns if u ever roll so noisy or not who cares. lol
