When you manually put the shifter into 1 this should force the trans. into 1st, when in 2 it will be in 3rd/D, when the shifter is in 3 the trans will be in 4th/OD, this is limp mode of the TCU controlled trans with no TCU. Applying power to the solenoids in the right sequence will then allow electric control along with the manual shifter use.
