Doesn't look like we're gonna make it now. I assumed the headgasket took a dump. Thinking no big deal, HG and down the road. Oh, noooo, couldn't be that simple. Upon inspection of the head. I have decay from the water jacket to the #3 cylinder. Now I'm looking for a head. Hopefully I can get one and installed by friday. I don't wanna put a used one in. I'm looking for a freshly rebuilt or new as possible one! :hammer:

I gave er my best shot!!! The R&R is going well. It's all the little get ready stuff that's taking all my time. Honey Do list keeps creeping in too. Oh, I forgot to say. The head had too much porosity to fix. Got lucky and NAPA had a rebuilt unit sitting in the corner for over a year. Sold it to me for $250.00. What a DEAL!! Have fun ya'll. Hope someone starts a thread with plenty of pics so I can see what I missed......

I think I'm going to relax at home tonight and head up early tomorrow, no sense in going tonight just to sleep.

#9
I went up Sat. morning, had a great time, did Gold and White Mountains. They thought my little stock 4Runner was going to be their entertainment value but I think I only had to back up a couple times for a second try at any of the obstacles. I again had one guy that was following the Ninja question if I was all that stock, I invited him to explore my truck anytime to see if he could find anything other than my 1 1/2 inch shackles. I did have a small issue though as we pulled back into camp, my idler pulley seized as we turned in. Good deal it happened at the end of the day. Drove home without power steering, it could have been worse. Carne asada was served for dinner at no charge as was the event, but I did buy a TTORA T-shirt to help them pay the bills.  I couldn't stay for today since I have to work.

Sounds like the event was a success. I was bummed I wasn't able to make it. Hopefully I can catch another ttora event in the future. Me and some local kids head up there on our own a few times a year. Now that ol bessies all fixed up(running better than ever with a new head), can't wait for the winter. Those trails are a real pain in the snow(more fun, challenging).

run was good it was a big turn out this year as well compared to last years event. Rock surfer i heard about your pulley glad you were able to get it back home though.

We ended up running gold mountain and john bull for the hard run. No real issues with anyone in our group besides a tail pipe being smashed flat.
Kind of bummed we had to leave before the carne was served up.
Seemed like everyone who was there had a good time.

Yeah, I spotted the guy that crushed his tail pipe, it was one he just bolted on like from Autozone. He was with the guy with the radiator problem that we caught up with on our run.
