Lets see your pics of what you tow!
« on: Jul 29, 2013, 05:52:08 PM »
I've always been wondering what Toyota owners tow on their rigs since they have a low class tow rating and small engines. Lets see what you tow, (would like to see some heavy towing pics). It would also be nice if you can show your specs and tow load weight. Bring it on and show how much that truck can do!!! :clap2: :yesnod:

You'd be surprised what a Yota will tow/pull, once on my way to Dusy Ershim My 30 ft class A motorhome vapor locked going up the hill. I unloaded my 4Runner with an auto trans off my trailer and proceeded to tow the motorhome and trailer to the top. The Sheriff had already called for heavy Duty tow saying that my 4Runner would never be able to tow it up the hill but with a person in the motorhome to steer I was able to actually tow everything faster with my truck than with the motorhome. I also had a 18 ft travel trailer that I used to tow with it no problem. Here's a image of the motorhome, sorry was too busy to bust out a camera while completing the tow of the motorhome. The motorhome is a 72 Travco they came on a 2 ton international frame and were all steel caged framing in a fiber glass envelope. Not lite by any standard.

....and yes we still have the 71 Formula 455.

Unlocked front hubs, and low-range can be very useful at times when towing heavy loads............

Oh I almost forgot, I used to tow 2 Seadoo's and a Slide in Cabover fully self contained camper with my 84 Toyota pickup to Lake Isabella all the time. It was a slow go low 4wd climb up the desert side but it always got us there.

WOW!! Those are some awesome towing. Heres the only pic I can find of my truck towing my jet boat. I need to take more towing pics next time. Truck is on 36s iroks and 529 gears with the stock v6 3.slow(gone now) and some ported heads. Boat should be around 1500-2000lbs, really light weight though. It would be cool if the boat motor is on the truck lol.

The Bird has major mods way too much to get into, it is a true Formula with functioning air induction similar to Chevy's Cowl induction but more of a ram air. The 4Runner I used to tow was my 86, not the 85 in my Avatar. Oh and the motorhome had some mods to it too. Had a Dodge 413 (old NASCAR motor) for a motorhome that thing would move except when it vapor locked.
