88 V6 Front t-case flange options?

I tried searching but didn't find what I needed to know. The front t-case CV flange on my runner is square, hence I can not redrill it. The rear flange is round and can be re drilled. Will the rear swap to the front? I could just pull them off and find out but I just figured someone might know and save me some trouble.

If the rear will fit the front output, does someone have one they would like to sell me??? I need to get this figured out ASAP.

It's an 88 runner with 3.0l V6 and auto tranny

Thanks

Does your intergrated transfercase's flange have 4 studs on it rather than holes?

OK, if you are trying to fit a 4 cyl drive shaft, it is 1/8" difference in bolt patter.

As for the flanges, no they are not interchangeable.
A 4 cyl case uses a 27mm / 29 spline flanges whereas the V6 uses a 31mm / 30 spline flanges.

So I think all you have to do would be to press out the studs, and then slot the holes to match the smaller 4 cyl shaft.

Good luck

I think you misunderstood what I asked about interchanging the flanges. Will the REAR output flange swap to the FRONT output on the integrated V6 t-cases. I will prolly try and slot the holes like you suggested but I still would like to know if the flanges will interchange outputs.

Thanks for your help

The newer v6 trucks (like mine '93) have the round re-drillable flange on the front output, so you could probably go to the junk yard and get a flange off a newer v6 case and get it done....   :headscratch:

I knocked out the studs and used a dremel to slot the holes. But I slotted them in in such a way that I was able to re-press the studs back in to a tight fit. Worked out great. Thanks Bigmike
