Feed stores that sell hay by the ton will have scales as well, if you get them when they aren't busy you could likely be able to weigh a few times to get front and rear measures.  It may cost you about $10 dollars if they do DMV weight certification, and it may cost you nothing.  If there is a county dump/transfer station nearby, you can weigh your Runner there as well.

A long time ago when I bothered with recycling newspapers by driving in to the recycling center, they weighed my car before and after dropping off the papers...............

what about the chp weighstation?

I weighed my car there when I changed my duty station... although they might have just helped out a military member -- not sure if they would do that for everyone

Any truck scale will be able to take care of you, try the old fashioned Yellow pages.

Try the local landfill.  I know placer county landfill gives you a weight if you pay for it.  Think its $12 or so.

Go find a closed truck station

Thats what I did. However, they don't close often in Ca. Other  than that most truck stops should have a scale.
