Front leaf springs
« on: Jun 16, 2013, 08:14:54 PM »
I'm currently running a set of 44044s in the front of my 95 runner. They are pretty old and just about flat. What are some you guys running? Looking at tg hd 5in springs. Any input?

Alcans are great springs but the tg or allpro are easier on the wallet.

Mine are shot too so after doing some research I bought Old Man Emu springs, bushings and shocks. Haven't had time for the install but they sure look good on the work bench. :)

I have some Marlin 4" fronts just used for mockup.  I'll sell them to you for $250.  I will be passing through Fresno on my way to Courtright Friday night if you are in that area.

I would go with Deavers. We ran custom Alcans for 3 races and they were flat.

Give him a call (he is hard to get a hold of) and tell him the specs of your rig. He will set you up from there.

Those Rancho springs are shorter than the typical bolt in toyota spring. I would look at putting toyota rears in the front. Find so Toy rears and use the top 2 springs and ditch your top 2. That should give you a little lift and great flex. TG spring are soft and floppy on the road. They twist all over the place in the shackle, that and other reasons are why they dont last as long.

I've been wheeling my t.g. springs for 3 yrs now with no issues. Had to remove a leaf to  help them settle and still haven't had to put them back in  a year later. I'd get them again without hesitation.

I was at Sky Offroad this morning, and they have done away with carrying certain items from TG.  They said they got tired of sending their product back for warranty.  And they have a local steel place making their springs.

I didn't pry into that.  I see on their site there are a few things that are still TG stuff, but not much anymore.  At one point, almost 1/3 was TG.  But most is made in house, or they have a metal guy locally make their stuff.
Their springs are made in town by a local company, so I might have to call and talk springs with them.  I really like the idea of the Expedition style spring that All-Pro is selling for the Tacos.  And thats what I'm kinda looking for, something that flexes, and handles a load.  I really don't want to be fiddle farting around with junkyard springs.  I want to put them in and go!
