1UZ swap radiator and slim fan option.
« on: May 08, 2013, 12:58:39 PM »
Im in the process of doing a 1UZ V8 swap and wondering what is the slimmest radiator fan out there. I’ve looked and search many sites and found some slim fan about 2” deep. Radiator (22x19x3) is about 3 inches thick and would also like to limit that to about 2.5 inches.. Anyone knows any radiator and SLIM fan combo with these criteria? IF not what brands are best for our applications. It’s a 1UZ V8 going into a 86 T4R. And i have about 5 inches from radiator support to engine front pully. I didnt feel like maxing that 5" out.

Flex-a-lite? Maybe an offset Ford Taurus fan?

I'm interested to know.

I do have a ford taurus fan! This fan is awesome and would really like to keep it. But I dont think its going to work. I havent really done measuresments and only eye balling it.. I dont have a radiator yet but I assume a 3 inch is standard.

What did you determine on this? Im in the middle of a 1uz swap into 87 t4r. Need some input on a good radiator fan combo.

radiator: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-380324/overview/

fan: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/flx-118/overview/

you will have to move the radiator and ac condensor about 1/2 inch forward and make your own support for the radiator. you should have about 1.5 inches to the grill and about 1/4 inches to the hood latch. mines fit perfectily...
