I found a local chain driven stock transfer case for $300.  Is this way too much for a used one?

I was told at the shop that the front portion of my 2-piece driveshaft slops all over the place while my truck is on the rack.  I also noticed some play at the output flange plus notice vibration and grinding bearing noises from that area.

OOPS

That can be fixed for less then $300.00 if you do the work yourself. It is not that hard.

Here is a link to a Factory Service Manual (FSM) that will show you how to do it.

Also make sure that the center bearing on the D-shaft is good, they get sloppy and make weird noises.

Three hundred is way over priced IMO, I gave mine to someone when I put my duals in.

Thanks all.  I try to negotiate a lower price.

For some reason ALL truck stuff here in East TN is expensive.   I don't get it.

Got it ready.

Worked on cross member and front drive shaft.  That alone is a project.

Should xfer case be in 4H to remove?  4L ?

I don't think it matters. Just un-bolt and pull off tranny.

Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

Thanks all.

Is it bad to lower the rear of the transmission down too far when the frame cross member is removed?  Should one support the transmission or let it dangle.  Seems it may damage the motor mounts.
