Shifter knob questions
« on: Apr 14, 2013, 07:09:02 PM »
Will older shifter knobs work on later models, not the transfer case knob? Ex: Would a 84 knob work on a 94? Do stock knobs have metal threads or plastic? Thanks in advance.

My stock knobs had plastic threads.  But they all should be the same thread pitch.

I think pretty much every import should have the same threads in the shift knob, unless they're the kind that pop on.

As far as my experience w/Japanese imports go, you are right.  I have used Subaru, Honda, and Mazda knobs when replacing the worn stock ones on 2nd-3rd gen trucks.

Ok thanks. I'm lookin for an older 5 speed knob, just because i like them better, if anyone has one with the red reverse R i'd be interested in buyin if price not to high. I think its a SR5 knob, not 100% sure tho.
