I was thinking of replacing my electric spedometer trans out of my 93 4cyl 4runner and replacing with a cable driven trans out of a 89 4runner. Is there anyway to hook up the cable where the electric used to go on the cluster, or do i have to get a new cluster. My brother has an 89 pickup and his cluster "looks" exactly the same but he has a cable driven spedometer. If i put a cable driven cluster in my 4runner would it work or would the wiring harness hook ups be completely different.

I don't quite understand this question because both transfercases are exactly the same. If you want to use a '89 t/case, just exchange the cable drive speedo gear with your electric speedo gear.

If you want to switch to cable, then you will need to get a cable inst. cluster. Otherwise you would be defeating the purpose.

my 93 4runner has a g58 with a chain driven tcase which is a electric spedometer, while the 89 4runner has a w56b with a cable driven spedometer.  The g58 is gone so i want to put the w56 in there but the spedometers are different.  What im trying to ask is if i put a cable driven tranny and transfer case in there, can i just take a dash cluster out of a cable driven vehicle and swap it in where the electric used to be?  Will it plug into where the old one was or are the connections totally different?
