Need help!! Motor wiring harness question.
« on: Mar 25, 2013, 11:44:26 PM »
Ok so I got a Frankenstein project going on I have a 83' 22r/20r hybrid motor a 82' truck missing all wiring components and a Wiring harness out of a different 83' But I do not have any of the computer/brains that connect to wiring harness the ones that are bolted to inner fenders so What my question is I found this truck online http://klamath.craigslist.org/pts/3594099780.html Will all his brains work for me? Or can I make them work with some small modifications? The truck in AD is a 86' with a 20r so I'm wondering if it could work or not? Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a pretty much complete 1980 wiring harness just laying in my shop. Let me know if you think you might be able to use it. I would be willing to just about give it to you since I don't think I will ever need it. Also, here is a dl for 1983 FSM with some nice wiring diagrams https://rapidshare.com/files/1931596093/Full%201983%20Toyota%20FSM%20%2B%20Wiring%20Diagrams.zip  Good luck man!!

I also believe I have an early harness if Hogcanyonhoppers doesnt work out.

That 86 having a 20r in it, would lead me to believe theres gonna be alot of hack stuff on that truck. probably more problems than you have now. If you cant get a harness, its honestly not that hard or expensive to make your own.

Thanks guys so you have everything thats missing from my inner fenders Hogcanyon? Would it fit in a flat rate box if shipped? you are 300 miles away from me and gas prices are going back up so that would be cheapest. Post a pic. of it all if you can please, Thanks

This is the current state of my inner fenders cab wiring harness but no computers on fenders.

an 86 never had a 20r, so someone put that I nthere, and probably had to do some mods to make it work

wiring really isn't that bad...... just takes some time.... on a brand new build like yours, I would actually build my own wiring harness.... just to know it was done properly and not hacked together

I would  say no,to answer your question,it looks to me like you have a  harness. a harness that could be utilized, just start collecting the components you are going to need, maybe another 1980 harness if you need to steal some pieces from,I would use a 4wd harness and dash cluster .the stuff you think is computers are smog controll, the ignition componets are on the drivers side innerfender

I bought the 86' harness today for $30 it wasn't hacked up at all like I would have thought brought it home and got it all mostly set up now just need to figure out a few small stuff like windshield wipers and I'm ready to go.
