Newbie from TX checking in...

Hi, all.  Im a proud owner of a 1989 4x4 Toyota Pickup.

I bought the truck not running for $500 and have nursed it back to good health.  I had to replace a cracked head and head gasket, replaced a limping W56-C tranny with a low mileage W56-D, I flushed and changed all fluids, did a full tune up, brakes, clutch, oil pan gasket, wheel bearings and its running good and rolling smooth!  The previous owner thought the engine was blown, HAH!  He also said the A/C hadn't work in 2 years, turns out it was already converted to 134-a freon and all that was wrong with the A/C was that its was WAY overcharged.  Got the coolant level down to about 35 psi and it blows cold like it should.

I think it was a steal, I have a total of about $1500 into the truck including the sale price and I would drive it anywhere without thinking about it.  These trucks are so easy to work on, I wish I had bought one years ago.

So far the only modification I have made is some custom rear lift shackles that my friend and I made yestersday.  Basically I just want enough lift to even out the wheel-well openings.  I also put on a rear canopy and my bike racks.

Eventually I would like to lift it up enough to fit 33" tires and then also go with a dual t-case setup.

It started out as a tril rig, then my S-10 started falling apart, so for now its going to be a daily driver.  I just took it to Dallas and back this weekend (500 mile trip) with no problems at all, except that its slow.   Whats the average top speed of one of these bad boys?  I can hit 80 on downhills, but up hill it slow to 60-65... ??

Well, thanks, but the picture kind of hides the dents, the bed is pretty rough and the hood has issues.  Other than that, its solid though.

60-65 uphill is pretty good, with my runner back when it had 32's  i could do about 90 on flats, it took a few mins to get up there but it cruised once i got going. sorry to here about your s-10. i had one of those, didnt really have a chance to fall apart on me, i fell asleep at the wheel and totaled it after 3 weeks
