Hey All-
Figured since I have been lurking on this forum for a while, and am somewhat active on several others, I should introduce myself.

I am Steve, and I am a Toyota Addic.... I mean Owner. I like quiet drives in the middle of nowhere on the side of steep, sometimes loose hills.

In all seriousness though. I have an '85 Toyota 4-Runner that I acquired from family friend about 5 years ago for a song and a dance. I have since spent much of my time getting the engine and driveline cleaned up and rebuild after about 250k miles of hard city driving. Right now, my biggest goal is to get out and have some fun off-roading with other Toy enthusiasts.

I have done the following to my Toy since purchase:

  • Rebuilt 22RE bored 0.30 over with new head, 268c cam, LCE Headers, Exhaust, blah blah blah. Runs great!
  • Rebuilt Transmission and Transfer Case
  • Rebuilt Front and Rear Differentials with 4.88 Gears (No Lockers Yet)
  • Zuk Coil Lift in Rear
  • AAL Up Front (Blech)
  • 32x11.50 BFG KM2s
  • Sliders
  • Rear Tube Bumper

As you can see, most of it has been focused on getting things running reliably.

The following is my current "Wish List" for the Truck:

  • CB Radio Install (Have all the goodies to do this one, just need the time)
  • Rear Chevy 63" Springs (Have everything but the Springs to do it)
  • Front 3-Link with Coilovers
  • 2nd Transfer Case
  • New Seats (Mine are Trashed)
  • Some new Sheet Metal & Paint
  • Lockers

That list is in no particular order. The truck is currently in good enough shape that I can take on Mild to Difficult trails, with varying levels of success. I am mostly just looking for some guys to wrench with and off-road with. In the daytime, I am a computer and engineering geek, so sadly most of my co-workers and friends don't see the draw of getting greasy working on a truck, just to beat it up off-roading and start over again, haha.

I'm also located in the Sacramento Area in Northern California.

Anywho, that's it for now... time to go back to lurking now  :disturbed:

I'm all for the Toyota thing, so long as it's not like that Jeep thing some of my friends caught. I think they have to take pills for life now.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

As a side note, this isn't technically my first Yota. I previously owned an '82 Long Bed that I had to sell when I moved away for college. I also currently have a 2013 Toyota Tacoma (Pre-Runner) as well.

Ya, I guess it's safe to say I've caught that Toyota thing, haha!

Thanks for the welcome guys, glad to be here!

Now I just need to find some guys in my area to start wrenchin' and wheelin' with.

Wow, apparently I really haven't kept this thread up,  :-\

About 9 months after the last post I dropped some money on a whole section of parts including:

  • Davez Leaf Spring Lift (I can post other manufacturers parts on this forum, right?)
  • Crossover Steering
  • Dual Transfer Cases
  • ARB Air Locker

I tore everything down and began the fabrication process. About 9 months later my first son came along, very little progress was made. About a year ago I started making progress again... about 9 months later my 2nd son came (there seems to be a trend).

I am happy to say that my 4Runner is getting close to being done (finally). I'm hoping to have it back on the road before the end of the year  :driving:.

Here are some pics of the 4Runner as she sits right now (disregard all the junk and kids toys):

Here are some shots of the truck before it went under the knife (this time):

In this shot I have installed 14" Suzuki Coils in the rear, a simple Add-A-Leaf in the front packs, and some 32" tall tires. The new suspension is MUCH softer (and taller *gack*).

:welcome: if you are going to do a build thread you should put it in the build-up section. This section is just for saying hi and introducing yourself.
