re-use the wire, and there will be a little oil, but not much. It is a quick easy swap.

ok thank you. SO is the sensor directly below the oil filter and has a white wire with black stripe,. Or is it the sensor to the left  of the oil filter with a black wire?

Just swapped an SR5 into mine this weekend, but haven't got a new sending unit yet so it's unplugged. My wire goes under the filter like yours and has a rubber boot.
On mine everything is working but the water temp gauge. I have like 7.5 volts at the sending unit, but something isn't working right.

Sadly I do not remember and I recently pulled my 22re and all of its associated wiring.

so i just installed mine everthing works but the oil pressure. i have a tab on the oil sensor to connect the wire and doesnt move but when i connect the wire to the nipple looking tab on the end i get the needle to move "slightly" do i need to cut the wire and splice it to both ends? i saw some weird things done on other sites and google images with this connection. everything seems to be ok but that.

All I had to do was change the oil pressure sending unit and plug the old plug into the new 1.

best thing to do for a more true reading is to get a small dual aftermarket sensor they sel a oil and temp gauge for cheap pick one up and save yourself the worry  EVERYONE KNOWS that the stock gauges arnt true.  I have used a stock one in the dash and a aftermarket one side by side because my stock one said I have ZERO oil presure but my aftermarket one said I have GREAT PRESURE
