all right, well i have a 98 Tacoma 2wd 2.4L that i want to make 4wd. but i have a few questions maybe some of you guys could answer. i have herd that i might be able to just get the 4wd tail shaft and t-case. but that was only from one person. so if any of you guys have any ideas on what to do or maybe know what to do it would be tons of help that i would really appreciate.

t,case and a front drive shaft would work! maybe a new axle

YA I AM GOING TO BE DOING THE SAS AT THE SAME TIME BUT I WASN'T SURE IF I HAD TO GET THE 4X4 TRANNY ALSO. I AM TRYING TO MAKE THIS TRUCK AS BUDGET AS POSSIBLE. I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE I CAN USE THE TCASE WITH OUT USING THE 4X4 TRANNY. I WILL JUST BE USING THE TRUCK FOR SOME FUN WHEELING..

oddball

WELL I CAN TELL YOU RIGHT NOW IT ISNT GOING TO BE LOW BUDGET AT ALL, I DONT KNOW ALL THE PETICULARS BUT YOULL HAVE TO FAB A CROSSMEMBER OR GET THE STOCK TACO ONE OR SOMETHING. THEN YOULL HAVE TO GET A 4X TACO TRANNY WITH TCASE OR IM NOT SURE BUT MAYBE A W56 WILL MOUNT UP OR MAYBE A DIVORCED T CASE. MOST OF THE GUYS IVE SEEN WITH SAS TACOS RUN A D44 UP FRONT, MY DADS PRERUNNER HAS A BLOCK OFF PLATE WHERE THE T CASE LEVER WOULD COME THROUGH THE CAB SO IF YOUR TRUCK DOESNT HAVE ONE THEN YOULL HAVE TO CUT. IT WOULD BE GOOD IDEA TO SEARCH ALSO, HOPE THAT WAS SOME HELP

i a not relly conserened with all the mounting and fab stuff i can do all that. i was thinking that i maybe could run a older t-case. but have it divorced and run the Toyota front axle but there is just gonna be some clearance issues like it will sit too far back. i will just have to take some measurements. it is probably going to be pretty tricky but it is worth the try.

 you can use an early 80's Datsun transfer case it's devoiced and fairly small but strong  I've done it If you got bench seat you'll  have to change to buckets.
