86 4runner getting tons
« on: Jan 25, 2013, 09:12:00 AM »
Parted out my old extra cab(that build is here  : http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=73303.0 )and kept all the parts, just picked up this 86 runner the other night with a blown headgasket so plan is to rebuild the motor, and then swap all my parts into it. Heres what I have,
Front axle: chevy dana 60 5.38,35 spline outers, arb, solid drive flanges( swapping to hubs)
Rear axle: rear ford dana 60 smooth bottom, 35 spline yukon chromolys, disc brakes, 5.38, welded
Transfercases: 23 spline all through, chromolly rear output, 4.70 rear case, trail gear twin stick( not sure what im doing here yet as my tranny is now 21 spline)
Tries are 39.5 iroks on cragar soft 8's( might get new tires soon for something more road friendly)
Suspensiom plans for now: 3 link front with 16" radflo coilovers I already have and air bumps,  sprung rear with 51 ford springs and bilstiens
I just started ordering the rest of what ill need and the motor rebuild should be underway real soon.
This is the old truck I parted out

Still gathering parts but I finally got a start. Motor is out and getting torn down, I got most of the parts i will need for the rebuild from engnbldr.com. A little more info on the 3 link, I will be keeping the axle brackets basically exactly how they are now and I still need to figure out what im gonna be doing for the frame once i get it cut apart. Last picture is my 16" radflos and 4" fox air bumps and cans, and set of yukon hardcore chromolly hubs for the front 60.

Motor is all back together running good and ive been daily driving it while i rebuild my buddys truck in my garage, once I finish his truck ill start cutting the runner up. Still need to get a set of 63" chevys for the rear as thats what im going to be running now other than that I have almost everything.
