I would imagine re bluing it would diminish the value, but I have no idea how much.  Personally I wouldn't do it, but I like the look of a firearm thats been used over the years.  Gives it character IMO.

Value goes down as a refinished piece. Any mod to an early 1911 or pre WWII arms is detrimental to the value. Any idea on make? Springfield, Colt, Singer etc

I wouldnt re-blu it, drops the value but does make them look nicer... just keep it oiled up and in a low humidity storage area!

Don't do it, like mentioned before, brings the value and historical significance down.

Has he had it appraised? It would be interesting to see what the value would be.

It can bring the value down, but it can not affect it at all.
Best thing to do is take it to a place the deal with not only re bluing guns but deals with guns this old and the value, to get their opinion.
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

no, he is just gonna keep it all tucked away for the future Zombie attach, but I did do some research and best I could find as far as a price would be from 2500 to 6000 but that's just a random search and view not allot of "real" research

Keep it original.  You can be put into a brand new 80% kit for about $800, and no FFL, but legal.  When they come looking, your invisible.
