figured i might as well start my build thread. Project is a 1988 runner i picked up about a year ago.

started out bone stock with 31 10.50s
My plans for it are:

Dana 44 front with 8 lug outers
Dana 60 rear with the disk brake conversion
63 inch springs for the rear
move the stock rear springs up front.
sliders
dual cases
4.7 low range gear set
havent decided on tire size yet. at least 39.5s

also rebuilding the 22re. blew the motor and decided to start buildin the runner while the motor was out..
dont have any pix yet but will post some when i get the chance

What kinda disk setup you doing in the rear?  I just got a 60 for mine and it has the sky rear disk brackets and some old crappy rotors and calipers.  Looking for better rear brakes.

Why waste time on the 44?

Squeakinz

finally got my u bolts in and was able to put the front together... finished welding the front hanger on and more frame clean up.. now to move the steering box and begin on high steer. plus work on motor.
and the reason i am wasting my time with a 44 is i dont have to cash for a 60 right now and a 44 is what i have been saving for awhile. i've researched it and havent seen alot of trouble with using one. i had a 44 on a truck that my buddy built awhile back and it did okay.

Sounds fair. Just don't try to go too big of a tire.
