I'm trying to gather some input for my brother. He currently has an automatic trans in his 4Runner with the 3.0. I myself know a little about our Toyota's but don't know a whole lot like some of you gurus out there. What all is needed to do the swap?
He currently has-
5 speed trans w/ t case
Clutch pedal assy
Clutch slave and master cylinders
Hydraulic clutch line
Cross member
For some reason I wanna say that we'll need manual locking hubs because his currently has auto locking hubs. I'm sure there's a lot more missing and was hoping for some help. Thanks guys

the hubs will do nothing really without changing the whole front center axle assembly to a non auto locking section.

otherwise the parts you have listed, sounds like hes got what he needs.
2009 i did this to a 90 4runner with a 91 5spd swap. i went all out and swapped entire body harnesses. what a PITA, you can do it with just looping the park/nuetral switch and splicing the reverse light wire.

a bi-metal hole saw (i forget what size i used) and a right angle drill would have helped make things easier (can just use regular one).
having a separate parts truck is much easier and was what i did.

Having a parts vehicle made a world of difference. And yes a drill for the clutch master on the firewall

You probably already have the clutch switch.  Another bonus would be the clutch start cancel switch, for starting on hills and such.

that requires more wiring lol or swapping of the whole harness.

UPDATE: before pulling trans, we did a compression test just for the heck of it and found cylinder #6 was dead :(
So now we gotta do an engine n trans project lol

may as well do a 3.4 swap while you're at it.

X2

I replaced mine with another 3.slow,  but when this one goes it'll have a 3.4.
