Hey guys. I got those TG Magnum Knuckle Studs, and a couple of them stripped the knuckle housing, i think just by over torquing them
Should i get the right size helicoil kit and put it in there?? Ive been reading around and I saw someone said helicoils suck. Any advice?

Well you can use those , or a timecert
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

Slolyfe

I wouldn't heil coil those. There is a lot of force on those studs. That being said I have 2 for sale.

I agree, dont helicoil, just get some knuckels from someone

Just remember you are dealing with steering, I've helicoiled different parts in the past but personally would not take a chance on something that may cause a lose of control of your vehicle.

Sparkplug

they only torque into the knuckle 15-20 ft lbs, not much at all

Helicoil is fine if done right. or use a timesert OR drill and tap the knuckle for dana 44 studs ( best idea of all those) http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/general-4x4-discussion/1106526-dana-60-knuckle-stripped-what-would-you-do.html  current thread on heli-coiling a dana 60 knuckle but it still applies.

If a heli coil is done correctly, it is stronger then the original threads. Just take your time and do it right, you'lle be good to go.
If you see it, its for sale.

Slolyfe

I would say a heil coil works well for directly bolting something down. But not something with a side to side load like steering.

That load, the bolt will see the loading, not the threads and a helicoil is stronger then the original threads

I time serted one stud on my knuckle. I run fror arp studs.

Ironically, that's the only stud that doesnt loosen up...

Done correctly, the threads are stronger than stock, mine was done on a Cnc mill

konarider1993

last night we just tapped it and gave it new threads and the studs went in fine. We'll see how long this lasts

4RunnerChevy

Not gonna read the thread, but I have a complete kit if interested.

konarider1993

helicoil kit? The one for those knuckle studs is 12mm-1.5 right
