Dr Phat

In the middle of rebuild my axle. I picked up some synthetic blend "dura blend" valvoline grease. Says complex Lithium EP grease. Im guessing this is ok for packing my birfs but two things I found. One is it says moly-fortified, which I heard is not good for bearings? Also, do I need a different type for greasing the hub (something a little thinner?) or just use the same grease all around?

tgmaul88

i use lucas grease but  maybe some one else will chim in

Vang530

I just used hi temp disc brake grease in the 10lb tub from oreilly when I rebuilt my axle..no problem so far after 10k miles (except I packed too much and grease sweat out from the hubs :) )

Dr Phat

So the hubs and birfs dont take separate grease?

Nimyad

I used a marine grade grease and haven't had any troubles with it. You should ask tranny frank what to use though ;)

jrock

The FSM recommends using moly grease for everything, MP grease or Molybdenum disulphide lithium base grease.

NorCalPR

CV Grease. I used Marine grease and my Longs prematurely weared out...

The rebuilt longs came packed with CV grease...

defiantly on the red and tacky the high temp disc brake grease tends to get thin and leak out when it gets got

Per FSM, Molybdenum  disulphide lithium base grease (cv) is used for birfield.  It's grey in color.  Use high temp for wheel bearings.  Make sure not to use too much on the hubs or they will stick.  That's what I used when I rebuilt mine.

Dr Phat

Alright sounds like I got the right stuff then. Thanks for the input guys! I'll post pics in my build thread next weekend!

Sadly you dont have the right stuff, Not even close, I will gladly send you a sample of the proper lubricant for the enclosed steering axle, I have tried to get the Crawler operation to even look at it, but wont

So Dr Phat get ready for Bacon, pancakes, and all sorts of Bullcrap,

Well don't sugar coat this situation tell me how you really feel,,

Yep need to clean the shop no doubt about that, So what ??  Now this DR phat is building a axle and wondering what to grease it with,

I got something to try, what's wrong with that, just because theres a endless amount of on line bobbed asshooes I don't Care

sounds like the good doctor is pondering grease for his axle,

NorCalPR

If I break a birf out on the trail, I dont need to deal with that snot.

Cv grease works just fine. CVs aren't filled with your garbage and they don't prematurely wear out. Mine held up fine when I drove my truck in FWD, for two hours on the freeway.

Go get a life Frank. Nobody wants your crap

Wonder how they are holding up,

10 times maybee ??

Let's wait and see if the DR wants to check out the semi fluid grease used in production of these axles,

Dude is actually pondering the design, asking good questions, looking at it from more of a intelligent position ,

I don't belong here ?? Hmmm Well looks like
I do, Dr Phat was getting all the same BS

What is CV grease ?? Can any one of you crawlers tell me what a CV grease is??

What grade ? what base ?? You toss these terms around like you know what you talking about???

Same goes for marine grease?? What is that ??

Dr Phat

Oh god what have I done...

THK Matt

Compared to how many people are runnin Toyota axles, nobody is running your goop, for perfect reasons. CV grease (which is meant for high pressure, high heat applications) works just fine without a mess and a headache any time you have to remove the birf.

Just because it MAY have been in te truck off the factory, doesn't mean it's the only option. Things change, new better things come out.

I like to use poop for the birfs.  Prefferably fresh and pliable. Cat. dog, whatever you have layin' around. I call the product backwoods poop.

Then when I am almost done I urinate on the hubs.

I have banned Frank again because he violated our forum rules by going around previous bans.

However I have banned him due to his violation of forum rules, this is the FIRST intelligent post I have seen from Frank. I however can't see myself allowing him to continue to post here because of his out of control, unorganized, and incoherent history. Notwithstanding, if anyone has anything to add to Frank's questions above, then be my guest.

Frank, because I know you're reading this, if you'd like to get your product across and try to educate members of this forum and auto manufactures across the world, then I urge you to read books such as Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends & Influence People. Maybe you will learn how to hold your breathe and market yourself and your product in a controlled and civil manner. It seems you truly believe in your products and that's great, but there is no room here for the way you've presented yourself and your goop. Unfortunately you've lost a massive portion of your Toyota audience, myself included, short of drastic changes in the automobile industry.

BigMike

I smell bacon!!!!!!!!

on a serious note, its ultimately the price of his poop goop, no one would pay that, even if it helped a whole 5%

NorCalPR

I wouldn't run it if it were free, just for the pure fact that I don't need to bring a bucket with me to drain that snot into should I break something on the trail...
