Hi All,

I have a 1996 Toyota 4runner Limited Edition 4WD. All stock.

I was driving at 70mph and accidently knee the transfercase shifter from H to N. The car went into neutral at 70mph and I had coast to side of the freeway.

I have tried every shift combination, the car just stays in neutral.

Here is what I have done:

1. Jack up the entire car. Turn key to on position, turn on 4wd switch, all four wheels turn at same time. I used my hands to rotate the drive shaft. Turn off 4wd switch and only two rear tires rotates. Transfercase actuator works fine.

2. Unplug battery cable and unplug and plug all coonectors around transfercase.

3. Transfercase actuator works fine. It engage into 4wd and disengage without any problem.

4. I remove the transfercase shifter and it looks fine inside the transfercase at least dorm the top.

Any suggestions on why transfercase is stuck in neutral?

Please help.

Paul

Hi All,

I was driving at 70mph(2wd) and accidently knee the transfercase shifter from H to N. The car went into neutral at 70mph and I had coast to side of the freeway.

Here is what I have done:

2. Unplug battery cable and unplug and plug all coonectors around transfercase and transmission.

Did I damage something here? I hardly use 4WD(transfercase) shifter, it always stay in H.

Please help.
