I got a bad leak from the sensor right below the oil filter on my 22re. Is this the oil pressure sensor? Just unplug it, re seal it, and thread it back in?

A good day working, that's just sick :reg:

Is this an oil pressure sending unit (do you have a factory oil pressure gauge) or just an oil pressure switch?

I've seen people use pliers on the body of the sending unit which damages it and may result in a leak. There is I believe a 12mm bolt head at the base of the sender that should always always always be used.

Oil leaks suck, get it fixed quick!

Yeah its the stock sending unit. I didnt see the 12mm bolt yesterday when i re sealed it. We'll see how bad she leaks today.

I got a new one today and am about to put it in. Anyone know anything about this 12mm bolt head

Here are some pics I pulled up from Google:

Ya can't see the bolt here:

But flip it over and look here:

ahhh. Well anyways it still leaked even after i got a new one! Then I took it out and took a closer look, and the block is cracked!  Right where this threads into. Someone tightened it too much I guess.

BigMike

HOLY CRAP THAT SUX!! It's really tough trying to seal cracks near threads.

If the crack is along the machined flanged surface (of the hole face of the hole), then you could try adding a gasket washer to seal the leak from around it, but that will be tricky with the sending unit's NPT type fitting...

I've seen ppl try JB Weld but it always leaks again eventually.

Best of luck for ya bud!

emsvitil

Goop RTV around it.   (I've done this at a few places, worked too)

Let it set overnight before starting engine.

You may get lucky.
