Hey Everyone I have 1986 4runner the automatic shifter is shot do anyone know where i can get one or can i get a new model Toyota's shifter and make it work. Need Help!

what do you mean by shot? worn out? lots of play? just plain fubar?
if it has lots of play in the shifter, the bushings are worn out and can be had at a dealer for a couple bucks..installing them on the other hand is a PITA.

I don't know if the shifters changed any in operation but if you look at 1st and 2nd generation shifters they look exactly the same. Knowing Toyota they may in fact be identical.

Its pretty much just plain fubar the slide cover for it is shattered it does have play in it the sticker that tells you what gear your is deteriorated the only think that worth anything on it is the 4wd shifter handle. I went up to the local Toyota dealership and they disconnected the slide cover that indicates what gear your in. I also called every junk yard in the three closest states and they all say we don't have anything that old! :yikes:
