pilot bearing help

so I feel like a retard I was just out putting a new pilot bearing in my truck, so I accidently hit the dust shield with a hammer and it fell off, I bent the shield back and stuck it back in the bearing. so im not sure if i should just run it and hope it all works or should I buy another bearing?

can i run it with the dust shield off? should i turn the bearing around so that the bad side is facing inward?

Travis, for how cheap they are id just throw a new one in there, why go through all the work and have it go bad early and have to pull everything again?

good point, ill see if napa(only place in this small town) will sell me a pilot bearing. they wouldn't sell me just a clutch disk and pressure plate, they said i had to buy the whole kit.
