Advice on an 86 4 runner

I'm getting an 86 4 runner on Monday, it has small and easy to fix exhaust leaks but the header and the whole thing is rusted, I'd like to just a nice new one but I don't know where to start or what kind to go with any advice?

My chromed header started rusting, I used a wire wheel on a drill, brushed it back down to bare metal & used ceramic header paint on it. Fixed it right up, as long as it is not heavily rusted should work for yours also. Use a Remflex gasket when you re-install.

I bought my truck from an old co-workers drugee mom and mine was so rusted I just kicked the muffler and it fell off. ripped the cat off with 1 hand and it's straight out.... whaaaaatever haha if it's busted just cut it off. or make your own. use the exhisting one as a template and weld in your own tubes if you have to have exhaust.

Prismo I like the wire brush idea I just don't know how severe the rust is lol I need a new gasket for sure though for the header

Royaydel that sucks!!! Haha I don't think mines that bad! I would make my own but I'm not to "build it" savy I'm learning, I still need to learn how to weld my dad has all the stuff I just don't have a lot of time these days

Someone on here is selling header didnt really pay attention since i dont have a 22re.   Im sure its in the for sale section
