Anyone ever ridden in, driven one, or??

Need to replace one of my trucks and just wondering if the unloaded ride is horrible or tolerable?

Really getting tired of the Fords and all the problems that come with them (mine atleast) think I have given them a fair shake but they gotta go, and I really dig the Ram 5500.

The dealers really really don't want to take them out to test drive even when I stress how serious I am about getting one, thought times were tough for them?

Any input would be appreciated.

In my past experience driving 2 1/2 ton-ish trucks, even though they are stiff and ride bumpy, you don't necessarily feel how stiff they are riding.  Haven't driven anything that new, though.

I will drive one before I buy, but the reason for asking is a few say it's actually a nice rider and a few say it is horrible.  I have a mixed bag of trucks now F450's, GM 3500, all older and getting tired so I am aware that one ton and up trucks ride pretty rough.  Just looking for a broader opinion on the ride than the few tow truck drivers I ask at the fuel stations.

We have a couple of RAM 5500's at work. These aren't tow trucks though, they are aerial bucket trucks and they are quite heavy. They pretty much max out at the GVW all day, everyday.  With that much weight in them, they do seem to ride quite decent but for the same truck with much less weight in it I might think it would ride a bit harsh.

Now, just in comparison, our equally equipped F550's ride ok but you can tell they feel overloaded by the suspensions handling where as the Dodge doesn't have that over loaded feeling at all with an equal amount of weight in it.  I know this isn't a direct answer for what you are probably looking for but it is what I have to offer for real world data on the trucks carrying capapcity.  :beerchug:  Hope that helps.

Thanks that helps.  I go from empty to 6k lbs or more all day (local pick up and delivery) so sometimes most of my day is a near empty truck but when I do get hit heavy I want a truck that can do both well and I think the Ram is it.
