well I figured I would start a build thread of my money pit. Its a 79 pickup that I paid 1800 bucks for. It ran and drove had high steer and lockright with a new set of 35" pro comps on it. I wish I would have bought a different pickup after dealing with all of the rust and other bs that came with it. I will post some pics as soon as I can,

Since I have bought this I have spent alot of coin on my mountain buggy. I started with 3" TG springs and I got a good deal on some cases already adapted. I spent months looking for some old style MTR's and I finally found some. I gotta say they grip and rip in the snow. I got the back half of my exo cage built along with my flat bed finished up.

so I then decided it was time to dig into her. I took the bed off and i found something i was not pleased to see. I ended up taking a 2nd gen frame and cutting the two fames in half and putting them together. it is plated top and bottom and on the sides. it took a while to do but it turned out good.

Ya me too. It's been a nightmare with this truck. I went to replace the clutch in it and there were only five bolts holding the flywheel on and they were grade 5 standard bolts. But I have all that bs fixed now.

Sweet truck! I know about rust repair and all the bs work to go through. Sometimes it sucks, but they just don't make rigs like this any more, and if you don't go overboard like some people, just fix stuff real good and simple, you will love it in the end.

well I figured i post some pics of my tube work. It is all 1 3/4 .120 wall tube. And for the flat bed I used some 16 gauge sheet metal and some 1"x1" rec tube for the spreader bars below the sheet metal.

I do need to add more weight to the back of this thing. Its kinda scary making tight corners on a slight side hill and the rear starts to come up on me. I wish I would have used some thicker sheet metal to add some weight but I guess I can always figure something else out to get weight in the back. What do you all think of my flat bed?

This is after I got the bed all painted and the front bumper done. All the tube in the flat bed and back hoop is 1 3/4 .095 with some 16 gauge sheet metal. It was a pain to do but I like how my flat bed is sunk in kinda like a stock bed.

The front bumper is made out of 1 3/4 .120 tube with a tg winch plate I got cheap from a buddy along with a smittybuilt xrc 10 which I am actually happy with. At some point I will have an exo on this truck that will tie into the front bumper.
