Is the existing radio a standard DIN size? (~ 7"x2" or double DIN 7" x 4")

My 86 radio was a DIN with a DIN sized storage bin underneath in the center.

If you're DIN, it should be easy, as that's that's what you get now (radio, CBs, equalizers....)

Mid 80s was when radios went to DIN sizes.......

yes you prob have a huge double din slot or a single din slot.  measure the whole square hole and let us know.

FYI you will need to also check the CB size to make sure it will fit, you will also need an elbow for the antenna cable or it will stick out too far in the back and interfere with the shifter by pushing the unit out further. Also the mic plug placement can be an issue if it is a front mount, a side mount can keep it out of the way of the shifter.

This is what my 85 looks like, I have put both a fullsize and a compact CB under my stereo in other rigs I have owned. When I did the fullsize I had to eliminate the plastic switch bar across the top and move the stereo up but with the compact CB I just removed the bottom pocket added an elbow to the coax and tie wrapped it to the stereo. There was also some trimming required to the air box behind the stereo.

Oh and I'll be installing either my CB or 2 meter in that slot depending on which one fits best underneath where my ipod is sitting in the second pic. I have an auto so I don't have to worry about hitting during shifting. I did have that happen on one of my trucks that had a body lift.

The lower pocket box  is attached to the front fascia plate and is removable.

Removing it gives you the room for a second DIN sized unit.

What he said, Toyota made a stereo option that would fill the entire hole eliminating the box. a couple screws hold it in and can be quickly removed for optional equipment.

Here's mine, its all stupid simple.  A couple of screws its all apart.  My bracket for the CB was just the right dimensions, that I was able to use some taped holes in the radio to mount it to.  And I used the screws in the speaker to bolt the bracket to the CB.  Definitely want to measure your CB radio dimensions before you get too far.
