Obama now has stated and signed it to pass, that freedom of speech is now a felony. $That\'s Gay$ What has this world even come to.

Our troops did not fight for all these freedoms and rights to just have them taken away from us! I know that there are both democrats and republicans that agreed to sign this and are ok with it. But personally, I don't think Obama should have signed that. And if they want to play it that way, gay marriage should have been legalized YEARS and YEARS ago! We used to have freedom of speech, opinion, religon, etc. Therefore if one WANTED to be gay he had the right back then. So now Obama is a big shot since he "legalized gay marriages". I'm not quite following this and I may be young and not follow politics as much as I should, but this is what I learned in high school. It sickens me to see what kind of world we live in now compared to the old history books of how it used to be.

Can someone tell me their idea of whats going on? I may be steamed up about nothing, but I think our soldiers fought for us to say what we want we should be able to do it!!!

Can you site the bill in question? but yes freedom of speech has become quite the grey area lately. And If you agree with, and speak of the founding fathers, you are also now labeled a terrorist. makes me sad. $I\'m Down$

I also wouldn't lend much credence to old history books.

It was done to stop people like the "occupy wall street" crowd but like most laws it will be twisted and abused by the lawmakers and politicians. You can't just blame Obama for this one. It passed in the republican controlled house 399-3 before it ever made it to Obama's desk.

have you heard of the one they did a year back, where if law enforcement suspects (with no evidence) your a terrorist or threat,
they can detain arrest and send you to federal prison without trial! ? ? ?

The founding fathers didnt have it right either. There were flaws then, and there are flaws now. Always will be. People arent perfect, people are stupid. Its just the way it is. You can get all caught up in it, and watch it unravel into a rats nest of bull crap, or you can sit back,

in about Obama... Yes.. A bill certainly must go through the house which has Republicans AND Democrats in it. Don't get me wrong. Never once did I say that ALL republicans are smart either.

I personally am stating the fact that the president signs the bill. Kinda like gives the final say. Sure he may do good things. Legalizing gay marriage. I myself am not homosexual, but I support anyone who is. So there is a plus that he has done. BUT I believe our country has a little more concerns that we should be dealing with rather than say who can be married to who. And as you all stated our troops worked their

off for our country to have these rights. I am not saying it is Obamas fault. I believe that our country started going downhill even before he was in office. Just stating that I do not agree with how things are going and its going to do nothing but get worse for us in the long run. So everyone better hold on!

Bush had the "Patriot Act," which also allowed the federal government to imprison you for the same thing.

Did you know that in Bush's "No Child Left Behind Act," it allows the federal government to read into all students records, and profile a student, that would fit the military mindset?

"Freedom of Speech" has never been absolute, there have always been restrictions on it. You have never been able to scream fire in a crowed theater, for decades you have had to get a get a permit to protest in a large group, though a single person can still protest w/o a permit. Under GW they set aside fenced free speech areas that were far enough away as to not effect the gathering. The crap that went on in Wisconsin and at just about every University where a conservative speaker is speaking is why the Reps in the House supported the bill. Making so much noise as to prevent others from hearing someone speak or conduct business isn't expressing ones freedom of speech, it is restricting another person's freedom. However the law shouldn't be there for those protected by the Secret Service, it should have been for the average speaker or business owner, if you need Secret service agents to protect, you should be thick skinned enough to roll with the heckling.

Not that I agree with what the governement is doing (most of the time I don't), knowledge is your best resource. Don't trust CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, The Onion, Etc. Etc. Etc., to get your information. The truth lies somewhere in between them all, and your best source is going directly to the source itself.
