ford and chevy 8 lug diffrence

Older Dodge, Ford, Chevy, Jeep trucks, International, etc. will all hook up to each other. HOWEVER , The 99-up Ford Super Duty 8-lug is metric, so therefore, the Super Duty wheels will not fit onto a Chevy, Older Ford, etc. and the other rims will not bolt up to the Super Duty axles. They WILL hook up with each other ( older Ford to Chevy, Dodge, etc. ), so hopefully that's enough info for you.

Ford 8x6.5 up to '98 then switched to 8x170mm

My understanding is Ford switched to metric 8 on 170 mm in 1997.

1996 and earlier is 8 on 6.5". Ford and Dodge rims will fit on Chevy, International, and Jeep. Chevy OEM 8 lug rims won't fit on Fords or Dodge because their hole for the hub is too small. Both Ford and Dodge 8 lug wheels index on the hub, not the lugnut studs. Chevy whells index on the studs. Not the better idea.
