OK so I'm currently installing a crawl box in my 83 SR5 toy and I need a new center console :thumbs:. I've seen a few pics on the forum but nothing really helped out. Is there a company that makes center consoles specifically for Toyota's? The style I'm looking for is like a Tuffy security console with a spot to mount your stereo deck, tuffy only designs for broncos . Any advise is appreciated . :dunno:

Thanks

Tuffy makes one for sammis, that would probably fit.

I currently have my stereo mounted in my center console for security reasons. Last thing I need is my dash ripped apart from some :moon: trying to steal it so I left the stock tape player in there an ran all the wiring to the center console.
I really would like to just transfer everything to the new console, I'll check out that Sammie one but I'm not sure if they have a stereo deck setup :/..  Thanks for the help

How hard would it be to mount a stereo deck in that ammo box

<MIKE>

You would probably be better off looking for a different box if you need your stereo in there.

Yeah that's why I'm thinking that 8" tuffy console box, but I've never seen one in a yota before. Guess its time for some fabrication . I'll post picks as the project begins I guess thumbsup

Ammo box stereo.  Built it with a 20ft wire, continuous power so no key required, and it could be removed and placed by our camp site for tunes by the fire.  No storage, but a great arm rest and self contained tunes.  The lid mounted to the floor, and the arm rest is screwed to the bottom of the can, it's upside down.  Fit perfectly between the bucket seats in my 84 pickup.  Sound was pretty good, too.

Check out the JB welded bracket, haha.

Obviously, the head unit and speakers aren't installed in these pics.  Used them for another build.

Holly crap, that is the coolest idea ever.. Nice fab work with that JB haha whatever works right! .  I've got two 6x9's in boxes behind my seats with about 20ft of wire, it's nice being able to pull speakers out of your truck when your out camping. Nice work dude, never seen that done before

Cool box! I'm going to do this some day, thanks.

All my speakers have always had at least 30 of speaker wire.
