Birfield Eliminator Kit?
« on: Feb 24, 2005, 01:03:48 PM »
I was just wondering what people think would be better to go with? A birfield eliminator kit, or just some bellfields?

I am putting a beefed up front axles in the rear of my truck, so I am just trying to get some ideas.

Also, do stock birfields fail often when they aren't turned?

With all of the new chromo longs available for purchase I think it would make more sense just to stick with the birfs and not have to worry about finding a replacement axle shaft if you brake one.  Also, the new chromo 30 spline longs are as strong as a D60 and the aliminator kit uses D44 stuff.  They are priced about the same brand, I would buy the longs if I had the money.   :turtle:  :usa:

So you think I should just keep the stock birfs until one blows, and then buy longsfields? or just replace the stockers before they blow?

How do longfields and bellfields stack up? What one is better?

I have the old school ringed longs in my truck and haven't broken one yet, then again I drive like an old lady
No really, I've only heard good things about bellfields and they are probably equivalent to what's in my truck now. The new 30 spline longs with chromo shafts look unreal and on PBB I think I've only seen one set broken by some dude doing front digs! :shocking:  with that kind of strength, I wonder if anybody really needs to go d44? Of course, if you're rich, go with a ford 9"/d60 hybrid from FROR and floor it up any obstacle!

bobby birfs are better then the bell feild I think..Just my  :twocents:

I would swap out the stockers asap..If you keep them good before you swap out to the 30 spline you will have a good set of inner and outers as spares..Or send your birfs and have bubby excabge them ..but if you got the money go 30 spline..I am very happy with mine..
Forgiveness is between them and god..
Its my job to arrange the meeting!

What are bobby birfs?
I have maybe 3 different sets of front axles for spares, but I would just like to make it very unlikely to have to change one.

About the 30 spline... is the differential 30 spline and not the birfs? are the birfs like 27 spline?

I don't think I can exchange them, since I am in Canada and the sellers probobly live in the US somewheres.

www.superaxles.com  Bobby Long is THE MAN when it comes to yota axles bar absolutely none!  I have his old school ringless in my truck right now and Im not affraid of breaking them at all.   Its the stock inners that have me nervous.  Thats why there is a set of polyperformance 4340 inner shafts sitting in my kitchen. :gap:  If I break a long Ill upgrade to 4340 27 spline birfs.

bobby is bobby long, the guy that makes longfields.
i would buy the new 30 spline longs and keep your stock inners and birfs as spares, not that you will need spares any more. :yesnod:

They look like very good axles... But they are also very expencive.

So the new 30 spline kit comes with the inner axles also?
