Could be refered to as a thermostatic vacuum valve also....dealer item or used only...I've been looking for one localy too. They are like 60 bucks new

IIRC toyota used these on almost everything, from tercels to land cruisers...  don't quote me on this however.

If memory serves, that's for the EGR.

It's so the EGR won't work until engine warms up enough.

Mine quit working years ago.

Just bypass it so the EGR is on all the time.   I haven't encountered any driveability problems.

How did you bypass it, connect the 2 vacume lines together?

That will work........

Or just hook the EGR up directly to the manifold  (backtrack the 2 lines from the valve to figure out the connections)

If you need it to look like it's there (visual emission test), drill it out and then seal the vent part on top so it's just a vacuum line connector.

I had mine bypassed then had to find a new one for smog. Check eBay. I got one pretty cheap used that looked brand new.
Bobbed 84 xtra cab, pickin up parts as I go.

If at first you do not succeed, put it in 4low and try again.
